Eurasian Bank draws customers’ attention to digital security issues when using smart devices, including voice speakers and other connected gadgets.
According to foreign experts and law enforcement agencies, such devices can, under certain conditions, be used by intruders to gain unauthorized access to information.
What is the danger
Smart speakers and other voice-controlled devices connect to the Internet and can interact with various services. In case of account vulnerabilities or compromise, there is a risk of:
- unauthorized access to the device
- collecting user information
- executing commands without the owner’s knowledge
What to pay attention to
Potential signs of unauthorized access to the device may include:
- spontaneous activation
- execution of commands without user participation
- unusual activity (music, calls, etc.)
In such cases, it is recommended to check the security settings and, if required, limit the use of the device.
How to reduce the risks
Using smart devices remains a personal choice for each user. At the same time, the level of security largely depends on the attentiveness and digital literacy of the owner himself.
Eurasian Bank recommends that clients follow the basic rules of digital security:
- use complex passwords and update them regularly
- not to connect devices to unverified services
- monitor app permissions
- update software in a timely manner
