Concert Ticket or Trap: How Not to Become Victim of Fraud at Buying Tickets Online

The demand for concerts, festivals and mass events remains high today, and with it the activity of online scammers is growing. Increasingly, attackers are exploiting the hype around popular events, offering Kazakhstanis “guaranteed assistance” in buying tickets, favorable offers, or access to “closed sales.”

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, cases became more frequent when citizens transfer money for tickets, but eventually do not receive them at all or encounter fake electronic tickets.

Eurasian Bank reminds that modern fraudulent schemes are becoming more sophisticated, so even attentive users should follow the basic rules of digital security.

Why scammers became more difficult to recognize
Today, not everyone can independently identify a phishing site, verify the authenticity of an electronic ticket, or distinguish a real seller from a fraudster. That is why the attackers rely not only on technical tricks, but also on the emotions of people who want to buy tickets to a popular event.

Which schemes are most common

Several types of fraud remain the most common:
* sale of non-existent tickets through ad sites and social networks;
* sending fake e-tickets or QR codes;
* phishing sites that collect bank card data;
* offers from “intermediaries” and resellers who require prepayment;
* links to fake payment pages.
You should be especially careful about offers to buy tickets “without waiting in line”, “by acquaintance” or at a price significantly lower than the market price.

How to reduce the risk of fraud

Eurasian Bank recommends following a few simple rules:
* purchase tickets only through official websites and trusted platforms;
* carefully check the website address before making a payment;
* do not transfer money to strangers;
* do not follow suspicious links from messengers and social networks;
* avoid offers with an excessively favorable price;
* save receipts and payment confirmations.

If the seller is in a hurry to transfer money, refuses secure payment methods, or insists on a full prepayment, this is a serious reason to be wary.

With the development of online services, fraudulent schemes are becoming more realistic. Therefore, digital vigilance is as important today as caution in any financial transactions.
